I have to hand it to you, Rad. This is one of the sweetest little programmes ever.

Question: The Asian sounding song, what is it? It's really, really familiar to me.

My effin' page.

Edit to add: Just waded through the other posts, and see that you don't know where it's from. It's driving me nuts. It kind of reminds me of a song from a Square game.

I can't play it. D=

.. I guess it has to do with my practically non-existent graphics drivers. Which do I need?

PS: The game gets 2 minus points for the icon.

Yay! Positive feedback.

WR (frend ), tell him it's fine to send to whoever. I seriously think PC gamer has better things to care about, though ;o.

And Freelance, I looked through my bookmarks and found http://stellamaris.vije.net/sons/ambiances/asie/japon/. That doesn't tell me much, but it's where I got it.

Faw, you need DirectX 8 or up.

(-)! That's annoying, I recognise ALL of those songs. That means I must own whatever game they're from, and had them on my computer.
The names of the files rang a bell, and after doing some Googling I realised the most obvious answer - they're from Shogun: Total War. Which makes sense the song would be so recognizable to me, I used to play that game hours upon hours.

Thanks btw
It kept me awake all night trying to remember the song.

Haha, this is cool. And wow, the trees fall over. I think you should keep making stuff like this, with different rules and new levels of complexity. Maybe you can even add some user tweakable settings.

[edit]
Oh, and the executable didn't seem to quit when I closed it.

Hm...in future versions, details could be upgraded (the landscape looks relatively dull and gets repetetive after a while) and having an editor to make your own maps wouldn't be a bad idea either, imo.

Also provide more in-game detail. This would not be adding new features but simply making available to the player/spectator the data the game already knows about. And add more end-game statistics, such as total units killed, total units on each side killed, most kills by a single character, most bites on the hamburger by a single unit/team, etc.

When I let the screen saver run for a long time, I usually get an error something like this: error snapshot. FIX.

I uploaded a version with a temporary-ish fix in place of the old screensaver file. Though I'm not sure why it would be having view-related problems in the screensaver, as the magnifying glass was removed. I'll look further into this later. By "I", I mean Risp.

Look like it's trying to draw a health bar for a nonexistant unit. I'm not sure why. It's not like it draws health bars at all in screensaver mode.

EDIT: Oh. I was slow.
And, don't I kind of need the source of the screensaver version to take a look at it?

That's especially odd, it seems to just begin using the magnifier randomly and then produces the error.

A minor bug I noticed is that once is shows the results, the text stats produced will stay in front of the two enclosing stone things that appear when begining a new battle.

May I also suggest that it keep track of the overall record of who has won how many times.

Actually, I'm just convinced that this version already has every possible level layout that doesn't suck. And making an editor would take effort, since I'd have to program in something to open level files and stuff. If anyone has a map idea, though, feel free to post.

Okay, played around a bit trying to get a new picture like the one posted above. Between the improved spells and blocking and stuff it's much harder to have it stay neutral enough to amass that many dead bodies. The best I got was:

The picture was taken at the very end of the battle (it already started to fade to black). For reference, it lasted just 61 seconds and had a 58 second, still-alive Faw as the oldest unit. Considering there were no burgers, he was just incredibly lucky.

Alright! Prepared it!
Let's see how well your computer takes THIS, n00b!

Before starting a battle, please go to options and set it to cycle rather then shuffle so it'll start on the NEW MAP.

Game ran at about 3/4 speed. About 5 minutes into the fight, realizing that the Rads would slowly win by whittling away the faws by about 4score in between respawn periods(There was a constant 100 more Rads than Faws after a while), I stopped playing

Well, your computer is just too good. I was getting like 3 SPF when there got to be around 1000 on each side.

There never got to be 1000 on each side on my playthru, and if my hypothesis and math reaosing is correct, there never would be. Considering the Rads continued to own the map.
