Interesting Little Querk
I discovered a (hopefully) new trick in JCS. Try setting up a pole to where it will fall on a spring. The pole will bounce in the same way a crate does until it gets set back into the original position - in which case it stops moving and becomes useless scenery. This could be make somewhat of an obstacle course for the player if there were springs in the right locations to bounce a pole back and forth.
Go try it! |

Wait, poles are falling when placed in the air? I'd try it, but JJ2 doesn't run on this PC.

No, I'm talking about poles like DIamondus/Carrotus/Psych. The ones that you shoot to make them fall.

Haha, looks stupid enough to be good eyecandy.

Okay, I have found that it can bounce back and forth, but ONLY if the springs are on the ground (no wall springs). The springs need to be elevated above the bottom tip of the pole as well.
Edit: It should be roughly 6 tiles left/right and 2 tiles up from the location of the pole event. Last edited by JanusJackrabbit; Sep 16, 2006 at 09:55 AM. |

Would it be possible to post a screenshot of how it's done?

Yeah, if I can figure out how to activate screencapture in JJ2 again.

I placed some enemies nearby in this area to trick the player into shooting down the pole. Instead of making a convenient bridge, the pole bounces off the spring and seals off the carrot assuming you're not down there like I am in the screenshot. Different springs bounce the pole in different strengths. A red spring will typically bounce the pole up and down until it settles into the upright position again. Green and blue make it bounce back toward the side you shot in from like in the screenshot.

Wow! That's really cool!

It should. Don't think for a moment that I'll stop with the blue ghost and bouncing pole har har.
