The first jj2

Wow this was weird. I was bored so i pulled out a beta version of jj2 that i have and it was weird as crap. The files (the exe, dat, and level) files were way smaller. The loading screen was so cool!

I had never played this beta jj2 1.00g version i had gotten. Well I look closer into it and the animations aren't near as cool as 1.2x but that's to be expected on beta. Well I know an abandonware site where u can download this beta version (i don't think 1.00g is shareware but i can't verify that). Also there was no JCS and the level files were .lev which suprised me.

Even so i see no point in making j2l files into lev files at this rate because it seems to make no sense why you'd wanna downgrade your jj2 levels and probably make them more unstable/cutdown then the original j2l files.

Last, I ran the 1.23 patcher on this game and it didn't detect my jj2 even when i directed it to the right folder it wouldn't let me click OK to start patching. I just thought i might throw out there that this could help pave the way for some neat stuff in the future.

Also I now see why they want j2l files converted to lev files. Smaller sizes for downloads. I also realized that anybody can get this copy of jj2. Just thought i'd throw in what I discovered about it and see what you all have to say.

Who are "they"? Also, I'd prefer to think J2L files are smaller in size.

Good idea. The only problem is it won't run windowed and if i take a screenshot at fullscreen, it'll come up completely black with nothing else but a black screen. But i did think of putting some up though

I don't remember. But overall .lev files are smaller but can't be edited.

.lev files can obviously be edited, or they wouldn't be there, would they?
Also, I'm also pretty sure .j2l is smaller.

Yes, there are. The sprites can, I believe, be viewed in the Diamondus Beta tileset.

Extracted from JSD:

When he (she?) chased you, the sprite would rotate a bit so the tentacles would be in your general direction.

I'll make some screenshots of interesting places in 1.00g (and 1.00h (and maybe also 1.10o)) and put them somewhere in a folder on a webserver or on my localhost Apache server so everyone can view them tomorrow, as it's quite late now and I'm now going off to sleep a bit ;p.

Actually, 1.00g is easier to find online than 1.20 or above.

and that's rather sucky, as you'll need 1.20 or newer to play online so it won't bring new players ;p

That doesn't mean you'd be able to play with 1.20-1.23 clients since the patch wouldn't work.

OMG leave this thread alone. I was tired! I wasn't thinking straight. I thought it was neat just because it was different. But I mean come on! People always thinking different things are cool. Like when Cherry Coke changed it's logo or whatever that picture thing was on the cans, I thought that was neat. So leave this thread alone! The only things that's really cool is the loading screens.

And Jerry, use photobucket.com i use them to store my pictures and i've never had an issue.
